Orientation Information for Incoming Students

Greetings from Campbell IB!  Incoming students will have multiple opportunities for program orientation before the school year begins on August 3, 2015. On Tuesday, July 28th, we will host IB 101 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  This social and academic experience will offer your student a chance to meet your peers, work with your teachers, experience a range of classes, get to know our current students, and become familiar with the campus.  We are told every year that this event makes the transition to high school much easier!  There are no structured events for parents on this day.

Our official 9th Grade Orientation will be on Thursday, July 30th.  This coincides with the regular orientation for the whole school (called This Is Sparta!) with sports, clubs, and other activities available for students to see. All IB 9th grade students will report to their homeroom classes at 8:30 AM to begin their day, and parents are encouraged to attend an IB Parent Meeting at 8:30 that morning (probably in the Band Room). Students and parents should both finish by10:00 AM.

Please plan to attend both of these events to help your year begin in the best way possible.

As always, you can reach me via email at Daniel.Penick@cobbk12.org if you have any questions throughout the summer.  We look forward to seeing you soon as a member of Campbell IB!

And don’t forget to do your summer work 🙂

Reminder: IB Potluck on Thursday!

The Annual IB Potluck Dinner will be held Thursday, February 12th from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.  It’s a great way for faculty, students, and parents to share some fantastic food in a fun, social environment.

Download the IB Potluck Dinner flyer to learn specifics about the menu–each grade level is assigned particular items to bring.  Our hope is that each family will bring a dish that is part of their culture or heritage so that we can share in an authentic international experience.  We will have plenty of plates, cups, napkins, and other supplies on hand.  We always need volunteers to help organize and run the event, so feel free to let us know if you want to help!

One special note: please avoid using peanuts, any tree nuts, or sesame seeds in any food made for the Potluck Dinner.  Some students may have a severe allergy to these things, and we want to prevent any problems from happening that night.  If you plan to bring/make a dish that has those ingredients, please make sure it is clearly labeled so all the students know.

Please contact Mr. Penick with any questions.  We look forward to seeing you there!
