IB Open House for Interested Students

The Open House for all Cobb County students and families interested in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at CHS will be held on THURSDAY, October 15, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the Livingston Auditorium at Campbell High School.

After a general information session, prospective students and their families will get a chance to hear from the IB faculty members, to meet parents of alumni and current students, and to talk to the IB students. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the program from the people who live it each day. If you have questions, email Mr. Penick (Daniel.Penick@cobbk12.org) or call us at 678-842-6856.

If you are unable to attend the Open House event, please contact the IB Coordinator, Dan Penick, to make alternate arrangements for a visit to the school. We look forward to seeing you soon as part of CHS IB!

Orientation Information for Incoming Students

Greetings from Campbell IB!  Incoming students will have multiple opportunities for program orientation before the school year begins on August 3, 2015. On Tuesday, July 28th, we will host IB 101 from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  This social and academic experience will offer your student a chance to meet your peers, work with your teachers, experience a range of classes, get to know our current students, and become familiar with the campus.  We are told every year that this event makes the transition to high school much easier!  There are no structured events for parents on this day.

Our official 9th Grade Orientation will be on Thursday, July 30th.  This coincides with the regular orientation for the whole school (called This Is Sparta!) with sports, clubs, and other activities available for students to see. All IB 9th grade students will report to their homeroom classes at 8:30 AM to begin their day, and parents are encouraged to attend an IB Parent Meeting at 8:30 that morning (probably in the Band Room). Students and parents should both finish by10:00 AM.

Please plan to attend both of these events to help your year begin in the best way possible.

As always, you can reach me via email at Daniel.Penick@cobbk12.org if you have any questions throughout the summer.  We look forward to seeing you soon as a member of Campbell IB!

And don’t forget to do your summer work 🙂

Congratulations to the CHS IB Class of 2019!

Congratulations to those students who have been accepted into the prestigious International Baccalaureate Program at Campbell High School!  Throughout this year’s record-breaking application process, the Admissions Committee took great care in selecting the strongest candidates who will contribute to our legacy of high achievement.  Our faculty and staff look forward to working with you over the next four years in Cobb County’s only International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

In an effort to assist your decision-making for next year, we will host an informational Open House for Accepted Students on Tuesday, March 10th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the Livingston Auditorium at Campbell High School. Teachers, current students, IB alumni, and parents will be available to share their personal experiences and answer questions that you might have concerning Campbell IB. We hope that you will attend this special evening in order to get all the information you need about our school.

In addition to the open house event, we have a number of resources available to help prospective students learn more about us.  Please take some time to visit each one so you have a full picture of our program.

  1. www.campbellib.org: this is a link to the new program website, and it contains lots of information about CHS IB.  Look for the “IB Information” tab, which includes the program profile, brochure, video, and much more.
  1. www.facebook.com/groups/487792901265297/: this is the Facebook page for students and parents to ask questions about IB–the classes, the teachers, the work load, the social experience, the extracurricular options, or anything else on your mind.  The page is moderated by IB students, so feel free to ask anything that’s important to you!
  2. www.facebook.com/groups/487792901265297/#!/groups/chsibalumni/ :  this Facebook page is dedicated to the network of CHS IB Alumni whose experiences have prepared them to thrive in college, travel the world, and gain employment in a wide range of fields. Since the IB Diploma prepares students to succeed in any discipline, not just one or two, you will be able to see what is possible through an IB education.

To reserve your place in the freshman class for next year, please indicate your choice by selecting CHS IB in the application portal by Monday, March 23rd. A reception and orientation for all new IB students and parents will be held the week of March 30th for the purpose of enrollment/registration.

Once again, congratulations on your acceptance!  By selecting the IB Program, you are joining an exclusive and remarkable population of students around the world.   If you have questions, want to make an appointment with the IB Coordinator, need to schedule a shadow day, or require more information, please contact us.  We congratulate you on taking this great step forward in your academic career, and we look forward to seeing you soon at Open House on March 10th!

Admissions Decisions

Admissions decisions will be posted in the Magnet Application Portal (magnet.cobbk12.org) on Friday, February 20th at 5:00 PM.  Please log into your account (the same one you accessed to submit the application in the fall) to see the results for magnet applications.  Unfortunately, we do not have access to passwords and cannot log in for you.  If you are unable to log in, you will have to contact the programs to which you applied to receive their response.

How to Apply for Admission to CHS IB

The online application for admission to CHS IB is available at the following address:

Please complete the online application. All instructions are listed in the portal. You will need to have a valid email address that you check frequently because all instructions and communications will be done via email.  Remember that you will be submitting four teacher recommendations, and you must have your teachers’ names/email addresses for that part of the application.

Private/home school students are able to complete the online application as well.  In addition to the application, we will need you to submit an official academic transcript from 7th and 8th grade that includes grades and standardized test scores.  This information should be submitted in December/January so that we have all the information to make informed admissions decisions in February.

All applications must be completed by December 5, 2014; anything entered into the portal after that date cannot be accepted.  Email Dan Penick, the IB Program Coordinator, or call CHS IB at 678-842-6856 if you have any questions or problems with the application.

The Open House for all students and families interested in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program will be held on THURSDAY, October 16, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in the Livingston Auditorium at Campbell High School.  If you are unable to attend the Open House event, please contact the IB Coordinator, Dan Penick, to make alternate arrangements for a visit to the school.

Interested students and families can also access the IB Information and Support page on Facebook to ask questions about the program, Campbell High School, and the application process: Facebook Page for IB Info and Support. Our current students are happy to respond to your inquires about the IB Program, the application process, magnet school choices, and Campbell High School.
