Class of 2024 Highlights

CHS IB seniors Zara Khan, Maariya Sheikh, and Sophia Higgins have advanced to the next round of the National Merit Scholarship Program competition and have been officially named as Finalists! All three students are now eligible for National Merit Scholarship Awards, which will be announced later this spring. Congratulations to these impressive scholars!

CHS IB seniors Brandon Buchalter and Maariya Sheikh have both been selected as Chancellor's Scholars at Vanderbilt University! Fewer than one percent of applicants to Vanderbilt were chosen for this prestigious honor, and Brandon and Maariya were singled out by the admissions committee for their outstanding leadership, strength of character, academic achievement, and deep-seated commitment to diversity and social justice. Chancellor's Scholars receive full tuition to Vanderbilt, plus a one-time summer stipend for an immersive experience following their sophomore or junior year. Congratulations to these two exceptional students!

Congratulations to CHS IB senior Sydney Nettles for being named the Cobb County School District's Athlete of the Week! Sydney was recognized for her outstanding achievement in track and field, but she has also been a vital part of the CHS softball and fencing teams over the last four years. We are very lucky to have this scholar-athlete as part of the Spartan family!

We are thrilled to announce that CHS IB senior Lucy Smith has been named the winner of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association "Dear Marguerite" National Essay Contest presented by Lettie Teague. Lucy's essay about the importance of attentiveness and communication in equestrian activities will be published in the 2024 IEA Hunt Seat National Finals program, and she will receive a $1,000 scholarship for her creative efforts. Congratulations, Lucy!
